Process Intensification Consultants

We help you to intensify processes and improve energy efficiency in unit operations

Services

DRA has an extensive network of scientific and engineering contacts in Western Europe, the Former Soviet Union, North America and the Far East. This is aided by Professor Reay's work as Editor in Chief of the Elsevier Science Journal 'Applied Thermal Engineering', (formerly 'Heat Recovery Systems & CHP), now in its 31st year. Professors Harvey and Ramshaw also work with the Process Intensification Network, which also has extensive contacts.

Examples of Completed Project Types

  • Performing due dilligence on behalf of a major UK company considering purchasing a pioneering SME in intensified chemical reactor technology
  • Reviewing process intensification technologies suitable for carbon capture for a major international player in the power plant construction business
  • Assessment of competing patents for a major compact heat exchanger manufacturer seeking to consolidate its position in a specific area of this technology
  • Reviewing, selecting and sizing gas turbine recuperators for advanced power cycles, including making recommendations on materials and construction methods
  • Defining, assessing and prioritising applications of Selective Laser Remelting (SLR) technology for the manufacture of heat exchangers, on behalf of an SME in the UK. (This study was carried out some 7 years ago, when SLR was at the experimental stage - subsequently it has been used in several heat exchanger applications)
  • Preliminary design study of a process intensification route for the recycling of polymer
  • Feasibility and design study of the use of heat exchanger-reactors in the 'Gas Turbine Reactor' for the production of power, heat and chemicals. This involved organisations such as Rolls Royce, BP, Norsk Hydro, the UK Energy Efficiency Office, and a number of SMEs and academics.
